According to an Associated Press source, quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo has agreed to a three-year contract worth $67.5m with the Las Vegas Raiders, which includes $34m in guaranteed money.
Garoppolo has spent the past six seasons with the San Francisco 49ers, leading them to the Super Bowl in 2019. Prior to that, he played for the New England Patriots for three years under the now-Raiders head coach, Josh McDaniels.
Throughout his regular-season career, Garoppolo has thrown 87 touchdowns and 42 interceptions, but he has also been frequently injured and has only played in every game of a season once. The 31-year-old will take over from Derek Carr as the Raiders' starting quarterback, who recently joined the New Orleans Saints after being released by the Raiders. Meanwhile, the 49ers are reportedly adding Sam Darnold as a backup to their other quarterbacks, Brock Purdy and Trey Lance.
